Moving Day

The time has finally come! We have our check-in appointment at 9 this morning and then we can start moving in. It looks like it’s going to be a rainy day though. Boo. We had to move out in rain and now we have to move in with it? So yesterday was another busy day and I apologize for not stopping in.

Friday’s Meals:

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Cereal 120
Almond milk 30
Lunch Subway Footlong Black Forest Ham on 9 Grain Honey Wheat 650
Subway White Chocolate Macademia Nut Cookie 220
Dinner 1 slice of thin crust cheese pizza 210
Salad pizza topper 30
Saudi Arabian Rice 100
Drinks Pabst 576
Total 1936

Oops! Sometimes you just need a cheat day, right? The beer definitely was not a wise choice.  You may have noticed some new items in my diet. Well, we were at Robert’s house for the part and he has some neighbors from Saudi Arabia that came over and they brought some delicious stuff! Check out what they suggested we put on pizza.

(Yeah you know me, eating before I snap a pic) I can’t even tell you what was in it but it was a creamy veggie(/maybe fruit too?) mix that was pretty good on pizza! Then we had some delicious rice that I believe had a variety of spices in it such as cumin, turmeric, ginger, red pepper, and a slew of others that I didn’t catch. It was really good!

Arabian Rice

Definitely was a fun party — nice and relaxing. Oh and Daniel and I kicked some ass at Beer Pong, in case you were wondering. The shorter table was to my advantage!

Anyway I need to get stuff done before move-in, like move a mattress up some stairs and carry heavy awkward boxes so I’ll be back later with Saturday’s update.

Excuse my French. Just kidding, it’s German! And it’s not a curse word!

My dad decided to try out some recipes he had brought back from Germany on us.  Frickadella is similar to meatloaf consisting of minced meat with onions, eggs, milk, and bread crumbs. It is a popular dish in Germany but from Danish heritage. They are pretty tasty!

My dad did a good job, though I have nothing to compare it to since I’ve never had it before. I’m not a huge fan of meatloaf but this was good and I ate all of it! So that says something.

He also made Spargelsuppe, or white asparagus soup. It is a delicacy in Germany during the springtime. White asparagus is only in harvest during that time. I have been to Germany twice to visit my dad when it’s in harvest and have actually tried this dish before. It’s one of my favorite soups! My dad brought back a mix of it from Germany but apparently at Commissaries you can buy canned white asparagus so he removed the dried pieces of asparagus and added the canned ones to make the soup fuller. It was good!

If you ever get a chance to try this soup, you should! Here‘s a recipe that sounds pretty good that I found online. If you have access to a Commissary you can pick up some of the canned white asparagus (I think it’s Reese brand?), or ask you grocer if they can order it in if they don’t have it.

Yesterday’s meals:

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Eggs 200
Lunch Spargel soup 200
Snack Crackers 40
Dinner Frickadella and brown rice 335
Dessert Pecan Pie 420
Total 1195

Woohoo, even with pie I was under!  I was pretty hungry for most of the day until I had the soup and Frickadella. I had them pretty close together so I don’t know if you could call the soup lunch at 4 in the afternoon.

Workout Report:

This just in! I didn’t work out! Let’s be honest — no surprise there. I was moving more stuff so I “didn’t find time” to workout. Lame excuse I know. It’s been raining though and running just doesn’t sound appealing. I should be doing indoor exercises though. Maybe I’ll get on that tonight. Wish me luck motivation!

One More Swai

Yesterday I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep. I decided to start my workout early by perusing Pinterest for some inspiration. I found this workout that sounded interesting. It was a good full body workout. Here’s the image for easier viewing.

I did the Monday exercises. Then after that I went on a 2.5 mile run with Daniel! I felt great afterwards. It was my best workout day in a long time.

Here is yesterday’s meals:

Meal Food Calories
Breakfast Cereal 80
Almond milk 20
Eggs 220
Snack Smoothie 140
Wheat Thins 160
Dinner Almond Crusted Swai 424
Rice and veggies 160
Total 1204

So we made that delicious Almond Crusted Swai again. This time instead of mixing in parmesan with the almonds I added Panko bread crumbs. It made it crispy without as many calories. For mine, I just sprinkled a little parmesan on top.

The rice was topped with a can of green beans, cucumber, yellow pepper, and I added a little soy sauce for flavor. The swai was my favorite part of the meal. I added a little lemon juice on top too. I could eat it every day and be happy. It’s sooooo good! Everyone should make it!

We actually finished the rest of our swai. Don’t worry, this won’t be the last of swai that you see on this blog. We plan to do some grocery shopping once we moved. Although we did end up buying some shrimp tonight for dinner. It was super tasty! Stay tuned for some delicious Alfredo & Shrimp Mostaccioli.
