This homemade light brown sugar makes an excellent coconut sugar substitute! It's also easy to make and a great replacement when you don't have any coconut sugar to use in a recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses

Instructions

  • Add the ingredients to a medium bowl and mix well. Use a fork or electric hand mixer to incorporate the two until no lumps remain.

Notes

Store coconut sugar substitute in an airtight container in a cool, day place.
Use a 1:1 ratio to substitute it for coconut sugar. For example 1 cup of coconut sugar = 1 cup of this coconut sugar substitute.
