Ingredients

  • 2-4 shots of espresso or 3/4 cup coffee
  • 2 cups unsweetened almond milk

Optional:

  • 2-3 teaspoons maple syrup or coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ground cinnamon or cocoa powder for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the espresso or coffee with your preferred method. If using a sweetener, stir it into the hot espresso at this time to evenly dissolve and disperse it. You can also add the vanilla extract at this time if using.

For a hot latte:

  • If you have an espresso machine with a wand attachment, you can heat and froth the almond milk that way. Otherwise, heat the almond milk in a saucepan or in the microwave until hot but not boiling.
  • Use an electric milk frother, whisk, or blender to create foam if desired.
  • Pour the hot espresso or coffee into mugs. Then, slowly pour the hot almond milk over the espresso, holding back any foam with a spoon. Spoon the foam on top of the lattes.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder to your liking and serve!

For an iced latte:

  • Place your espresso or coffee in the fridge for 5-10 minutes to cool so that it doesn't melt the ice right away.
  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Pour the cooled espresso over the ice cubes in the glass, then pour in the almond milk. Use a long spoon to stir the iced latte until well combined.
  • Sprinkle with cinnamon or cocoa powder on top for a finishing touch if desired and serve immediately.
